Espaço Mendes is inspired to share aspects of his capoeira practice with a wider audience of movers and people looking to expand their movement practice. From teaching capoeira for the past twenty+ years, he has gathered together a foundation of primary movement patterns that enhance any one's ability to inhabit their body with skill and fluid power. This is a class for people who don't necessarily want to dive all the way into capoeira, but are interested in receiving the benefits of learning a range of movement pathways, increasing their balance and strength, and enjoying the embodied experience of flow.
Anastasia Barron is a dancer, performer, and bodyworker who trains in diverse forms of movement including contemporary/release dance, Axis Syllabus, yoga, contact improvisation, capoeira and experiential practices. She has taught and performed theater and dance around the East Bay and SF, and is excited to be sharing her movement practice and research in Petaluma. Her knowledge of the moving body comes through her felt experience of the body in motion, as well as the anatomical and neuromuscular knowledge from her bodywork practice. Her practice is inspired by the experience of flow, releasing the breath, finding momentum through minimal effort, and using imagery to activate the embodied imagination.
